A butterfly in deep rose and soft pink is painted across a horizontal fan of book-page strips, the wings spread wide across the text-covered surface. The watercolor bleeds gently at the edges, the form more felt than defined — emerging from the page as if it always lived there. The fanned strip format gives the piece a sculptural, wing-like quality of its own.
